Redesigned 2015 Nissan Murano Earns Top Safety Pick Plus Rating

The completely redesigned 2015 Nissan Murano was recently awarded with the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus vehicle safety rating, which is the highest possible ranking. The new Murano scored “Good” in all five categories and received a “Superior” rating for front crash prevention for models equipped with Forward Emergency Braking.

To earn the Top Safety Pick designation, a vehicle must achieve a “Good” or “Acceptable” rating in the newer small overlap frontal test, as well as performing well in moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. For the Top Safety Pick Plus rating, a vehicle must also earn an “Advanced” or “Superior” rating for front crash prevention.

The all-new Murano raised the bar when it comes to technology, styling, refinement, luxury and quality, and now sets the standard for safety as well. Standard safety features like the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, Zone Body construction, Vehicle Dynamic Control and traction control all help in making the Murano one of the safest vehicles in its class.

Advanced safety features like Nissan’s Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection give a bird’s eye 360 degree view to help with parking, and gives alerts when moving objects are detected around the vehicle. Objects crossing in the front or rear of the vehicle are also detected by the system when driving forward or in reverse.

Additional “Safety Shield” technologies are also available, including Intelligent Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Predictive Forward Collision Warning. Certain 2015 Nissan Murano models also feature a Driver Attention Alert system which alerts the driver when they are drowsy or inattentive.
