The next Nissan Maxima is on its way for 2016, and has been created by driving enthusiasts for driving enthusiasts. The 2016 Maxima features dramatic, four-door sports car styling, with a low profile and wide, athletic stance, sitting 1.3 inches lower and 2.2 inches longer than the previous generation.
The legendary 3.5 liter VQ-series V6 engine has been re-engineered with over 60 percent new parts, using technology used in the Nissan GT-R supercar, such as sodium filled valves. The 2016 Nissan Maxima’s V6 now puts out 300 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque, and is paired to a new performance-oriented Xtronic CVT transmission.
Improvements to the drivetrain also have helped improve fuel economy, which is now 15 percent better at an estimated 30 mpg highway and 22 mpg city. A wider gear ratio range and all-new D-Step shift logic means stronger acceleration and quicker shifts, in addition to seamless re-acceleration when exiting a corner. The all-new Maxima also has a Drive Mode Selector with Normal and Sport modes, which alter throttle response, transmission tuning, steering feel and Active Sound Enhancement.
The 2016 Maxima’s redesigned platform is stronger than before, which improves ride comfort and handling, and is 82 pounds lighter. This gives the Maxima a better power-to-weight ratio than competitors like the BMW 335i and Acura TLX V6. Fully independent suspension with monotube rear dampers and large stabilizer bars also help provide sporty handling. Inside, the Maxima features loads of standard and available features, including NissanConnect with standard navigation, Zero Gravity front seats, 11 speaker Bose audio system with Center Point Surround Stage technology and Nissan’s Around View Monitor.
The all-new Maxima also offers many safety and driving aids, such as Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control, Forward Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Warning. Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System comes standard, as does Vehicle Dynamic Control with traction control and Easy-Fill Tire Alert.
The 2016 Nissan Maxima will go on sale in Hartford, CT this summer at Harte Nissan, and is proudly built in the U.S. at Nissan’s Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant. Visit our online inventory and take a look at the Maxima and other fun-to-drive Nissan products.
